Laguna Beach High School Surf Team

Laguna Beach High School Surf Team surfed last Thursday against Dana Hills at Salt Creek. It was another pretty morning. The temperature was somewhat chilly and the surf was a little tricky in the 4ft range. Everyone competed hard and gave it their best. Our Women were the Standout Top Finishers for the day led by Scout Mitchell and Lilie Kulber, who both put on great performances in both their heats coming in with big Wins in Shortboard and a 2nd and 3rd in Longboard. Meanwhile Freshmen surfers Kaelyn Chism and Ruby Samson also did well in both divisions following up our leaders. In Mens Shortboard Jaxson Hutcheon led the way with a 2nd while, Maddox Rapp, Christian Schenk and Luke Duensing finished with 3rds and Gavin Campbell and Dane Cameron followed closely. We had to deal with sickness and injuries and didn’t have our full team participating so came up short overall. 2016-2017 Scholastic Surf Series Event #5: Individual Champion Jameson Roller

Jet North LBHS Surf Takes Win Over Tesoro at Scholastic Surf Series Event #5, Individual Champion Jameson Roller We went 5 and 0 in the Scholastic Surf Series this season, taking the Win today over Tesoro 56-50. The event was held at San Clemente Pier with nice surf and weather to make for a great day of competition. We started out the day with Team competition and all the Laguna Beach High school Team members did their part, with many doing double duty in multiple divisions and doing quite well in both the team portion and then Individuals. Jameson Roller was one of the surfers who competed in both the Shortboard and Longboard gaining valuable points for the team. He had some very impressive nose rides, drop knee cut backs and great surfing to win the Longboard Final and also win the overall points for the season. LBHS Overall Win at Salt Creek against Dana Hills

Lilie Kulber LBHS Surf Women Shortboard Take Another Overall Win Against Dana Hills, Kiko and Sam Nelsen Take Mens Shortboard Wins Laguna took on Dana Hills for the second week in a row at Salt Creek. The surf was fun in the 3-4ft range and our Surfers improved their overall team performance with the Women’s Shortboard taking another overall Win. Our Women Shortboard surfers did very well to overtake the Dana Women once again. Lilie Kulber, Tess Booth and Kalohe Danbara all did their part and each found some nice waves to finish 2, 3 and 4. Meanwhile in Longboard Scout Mitchell and Jade Howson also found some nice rides to finish 3 and 4. In Mens Shortboard it was a close battle with Dana and came down to the wire. Twin bros Kiko and Sam Nelsen, led the way, ripping apart the line-up to both take Wins, while Ryan Magee and Christian Schenk, followed up with great surfing as well and finished in 2nd and Lucas Jablon, Joseph Schenk and Holden Geary dug deep and finished in 3rd. ...
