Contest Against Dana Hills at Thalia 2018

LBHS Surf Gives All Against Dana Hills. Individual Heat Wins by Travis and Tess Booth, Sam Nelsen and Tyson Lockhart

Last Thursday saw Laguna take on Dana Hills for the first time at Thalia for a league event. The surf was good and our Surfers gave it their all. While we didn’t take the overall Team Win, we did have some winning results and really good performances.

Sam Nelsen in heat 2 of the morning came through with a heat Win in Shortboard. He has looked very strong so far this season taking control of each of his heats to dominate. In addition Travis Booth has been another strong Laguna performer in each of the events and took a Win here as well, while freshman Christian Schenk took 2ndin the same heat as Travis. The final heat of the day saw Tyson Lockhart do really well to also take a big Win. The days top individual wave score went to Kyle Shaw who pulled off several critical vertical hits on his backhand to secure a 9 out of 10 point ride and a 2ndplace result, he just came up a little short of securing a second high scoring ride. Meanwhile Liam McCue got things kicked off first thing in the morning with good surfing and a second place finish.

Our Women surfers in both Shortboard and Longboard have been tops for several seasons and we have seen so many good performances put in regardless of the competition, however against Dana Hills things seemed to be a little different then usual and only Tess Booth was able to put in a strong performance taking the Short board Win. In the Women’s Longboard Claire Kelly led the way, while Jameson Roller was tops for the Laguna Mens Longboard.
