Kulber Standout Performer For LBHS Surf League Event VS San Clemente High

Laguna Beach High School Surf Team surfed their first League event last Friday against San Clemente High School at T-Street. It was beautiful morning with peaky surf in the 4ft range. Everyone competed hard despite being up against a stacked group.

Lilie Kulber was the Standout performer of the day in the Women’s Shortboard. She absolutely went to town, carving up a right hand wave with some searing turns to score a 9.5 out of 10. She then followed it up with another high scoring ride and came away with a win and an overall 16 point total. Meanwhile Scout Mitchell also had some nice scoring rides and secured a 2nd in her heat with a 10 point total. Freshmen surfers Kaelyn Chism and Ruby Samson got their waves and some valuable competitive experience competing in Women’s Shortboard and Longboard along with Kulber and Mitchell.

In Mens Shortboard we saw plenty of good surfing and effort with third place finishes going to Maddox Rapp, Jaxson Hutcheon, and Christian Schenk, while they were closely followed by Hudson Saunders, Matthew Vemilya, Ryan Holloran, Liam Macmillian, Zen Mir-Scaer and Merrick Vellmure.

In Mens Longboard Cooper Laws was the highest finisher while he was followed by Vincent Wallstein and Tate Warner.
