LBHS Surfers Compete Successfully In a Number of Events In the Last Few Weeks

It’s been a busy past two weeks for LBHS Surf with League events against San Clemente High School at T-St, Dana Hills High School at Salt Creek and The first Scholastic Surf Series event at San Clemente Pier.

The SSS began last Sunday morning with an overall Team Win 70-19 over Santa Margarita High School and included a number of individual Wins and Finalists. In Longboard Jameson Roller took 1st, Cooper Laws 3rdand Alex Wick 5th. Shortboard saw Holden Geary take 3rd, Liam McCue take 5thand Tyson Lockhart take 6th. Both Dane Cameron and Tate Warner also had a good showing in Shortboard. Tess Booth took a win in Longboard while taking a 2ndin Shortboard and Kelly Smith took the Shortboard Win and Jade Howsen was 2ndin Longboard. Dylan Zoller took 2ndin Bodyboard.

Our Women surfers in both Shortboard and Longboard have been dominating the competition and have had a number of top results and overall Team wins against San Clemente, Dana Hills and Santa Margarita. Kayla Coscino had short board wins against San Clemente and Dana Hills and 2ndplace finishes against both in Longboard. Tess Booth, Kelly Smith Kalohe Danbara all have had good results in Shortboard while Claire Kelly has done well in Longboard.

Jameson Roller took an impressive win in Longboard against Dana Hills and a 2ndagainst San Clemente. Meanwhile in Mens Shortboard despite team losses there have been some outstanding individual standout performances put in by Travis Booth, Sam Nelsen, Liam McCue, and Trey Lockhart.

A couple of weeks ago our surfers were treated to an informative water safety seminar down at the Main Beach Lifeguard head quarters hosted by former LBHS Surf Team members Porter Hogan and Michael Chapman. The team started in the classroom and then practiced safety technics on the beach and in the water.
