LBHS SURF TEAM LOOKING STRONG IN SEASON OPENER AGAINST ALISO NIGUEL

Kayla Coscino and Kalohe Danbara
The Laguna Beach High School Surf Team got off to a great start today in a non-league Event against Aliso Niguel at Salt Creek. It was an overcast morning with somewhat difficult inconsistent 2ft surf but it didn’t stop our Team from having a lot of success. The Laguna Beach Boys Team had a solid win with several of the team having very good performances. Noah North, Travis Booth and Jake Levine took control of the first Boys Shortboard heat finishing 1st, 2ndand 3rd respectively. Both North and Booth looked strong and confident on their backside with multiple hits on some good waves, while Levine had to deal with a non competitor interfering with his best wave, but still handled it nicely. All of the Shortboard heats for the day continued to be dominated by our Boys and Girls. Dante Madrigal, Trey Lockhart, and Kiko Nelsen were all were ripping hard and finished with solid Wins in their heats. While Jeremy Shutts, Sam Nelsen, and Liam McCue took 2nds just behind and Jett North and Holden Geary took 3rds. Our Boys Longboard hit the water at first light and Jameson Roller dominated taking a big win. In Boys Bodyboard, Hunter Johnson had a good game plan staying busy and easily secured the Win. Our Girls Shortboard was led by Kayla Coscino who looked outstanding on a number of rides with smooth radical surfing to take the Win, while newcomer Kalohe Danbara also surfed very well to finish in 2nd.
A big thank you goes out to all the parents and friends who showed up to support our Laguna kids.
Our next event will be another non-league Event at Salt Creek on Friday, September 16 against Capo Valley.
