LBHS Surf Takes Big Win Over J Serra at Scholastic Surf Series Event #1, Individual Champions Jake Levine and Jameson Roller

We had a Big Win last Sunday at the Scholastic Surf Series Event #1 at 9^th St in Huntington Beach. We started out the day with Team competition and Laguna Beach High school was up against J Serra. Everyone surfed really well as a team and we took the overall win by a large margin 61-45.

In addition in the individual competition we had representation in each division Final. The surf was pumping all day and the weather was really nice too. We had three Boys shortboard surfers in the finals and they were all ripping. It was close amongst the Laguna kids, with each of the boys having some really excellent rides. Jake Levine picked off a gem at the start and found another good backup to score the win with twins, Kiko Nelsen and Sam Nelson close behind in 2^nd and 3^rd. Meanwhile Holden Geary surfed well just missing the Final with a 7^th overall.

Jameson Roller killed it in the Longboard competition, taking the big win. Girls Longboard saw impressive surfing by both our Girls. Anika Pitz finished 2^nd and Maya Takabayashi in her first ever competition came in 3rd. Destiny Thompson was strong in Girls Shortboard taking 2nd place and Anika did double duty taking a 5^th in the Final. The Boyboard Final saw Hunter Johnson do well and take 4th. Special mention goes out to new comers Joseph Schenk, Sam Starr, Luca Elegaynan and Jackson Jenkins who all put in a good effort in their first event for LBHS.

The next Scholastic Surf Series event will be Dec 11.
