2015-2016 Scholastic Surf Series Event #1

LBHS Surf Takes Big Win Over J Serra at Scholastic Surf Series Event #1, Individual Champion Jake Levine

We had our first big win on Sunday at the Scholastic Surf Series Event #1 at 9th St in Huntington Beach. We started out the day with Team competition and Laguna Beach High school was up against J Serra. Everyone surfed really well as a team and we took the overall win.

In addition in the individual competition we had representation in each division Final. The surf was pretty tough with lot’s of close outs and small waves, but the weather was really nice, hot and light winds and we enjoyed the shade of our new team tent! We had four out of the six boys shortboard in the finals and they were all ripping. It was close amongst the Laguna kids, with each of the boys having some really excellent rides, but in the end it was Jake Levine taking the win with Trey Lockhart as runner up. Zach Levine surfed really solid and finished in 3rd and also jumped into Bodyboard when he was needed and took 2nd on a rented Bodyboard! Meanwhile Travis Booth was a standout throughout the day and finished in 4th.

Laguna’s Jameson Roller and Lola Fisher both were impressive in the Longboard competition and each finished runner up in Boys and Girls Longboard. Claire Kelly also surfed well and finished the day in 4th place in Girls Shortboard. The next Scholastic Surf Series event will be Dec 20.

Thank you to all the Parents who supported us helping put up and take down the tent, as well as providing food and good cheer.
