LBHS Opens 2019-2020 Season with a Win

Tai Diggins LBHS SURF OPENS SEASON WITH A WIN OVER NEWPORT HARBOR The Laguna Beach High School Surf Team came out of the gates firing against Newport Harbor High School at Thaila today. While Newport is no longer in our league we had a fun non-league event to kick off our season and took the overall Win 82-66. The surf was fun and weather was nice and The Laguna Surfers made the most of their home break and put in some memorable performances in a number of heats and divisions. Christian Schenk and Tai Diggins got things going well in the first heat of the morning each finding great rides. There was a tie between them for first and was broken with Christian in first and Tai in second place. The following heat saw Joseph Schenk securing a 2nd. Mitchell And Kulber, Standout Performers For LBHS Surf League Event VS Dana Hills

Laguna Beach High School Surf Team surfed last Thursday against Dana Hills at Salt Creek. It was another pretty morning. The temperature was somewhat chilly and the surf was a little tricky in the 4ft range. Everyone competed hard and gave it their best. Our Women were the Standout Top Finishers for the day led by Scout Mitchell and Lilie Kulber, who both put on great performances in both their heats coming in with big Wins in Shortboard and a 2nd and 3rd in Longboard. Meanwhile Freshmen surfers Kaelyn Chism and Ruby Samson also did well in both divisions following up our leaders. In Mens Shortboard Jaxson Hutcheon led the way with a 2nd while, Maddox Rapp, Christian Schenk and Luke Duensing finished with 3rds and Gavin Campbell and Dane Cameron followed closely. We had to deal with sickness and injuries and didn’t have our full team participating so came up short overall. 2019-2020 Scholastic Surf Series Event #2 San Clemente Pier

Coach Alisa Cairns, Devyn Linder, Mia Moore, Tyson Lockhart, Dane Cameron in front Cooper Laws and Christian Schenk LBHS Surf Takes Big Win Over Santa Margarita At Scholastic Surf Series Event #2, Top Overall Wins and Finalists Linder, Schenk and Lockhart We had a big win on Sunday at the Scholastic Surf Series Event at San Clemente Pier. We started out the day with Team competition and Laguna Beach High school was up against Santa Margarita High School. Everyone surfed really well as a team and we took the overall win by a large margin 60-24. Some of the Team surfed in multiple divisions with a lot of success and most of the Team advanced to the individual competition. The weather was really nice and sunny with light winds all day and the surf was decent to start the day. As the day went on with the tide bottoming out with a negative tide it got really challenging.
